Right now nothing is definite, we cannot even see our OWN universe fully, leave the question about the existence of multiverse(theory which states that there is existence of many universes and our universe is just one of them). Multiverse is just a theory but it can be true just like black holes were a theory back in the day.

Its just that you would have to wait for a lowest of the lowest minimum of 10,000 years or so(if we survive till then and keep progressing in technology) to get the answer with enough evidence to prove that. Multiverse is just a theory till then

So in short for now the answer is “there is a minimum of 1 universe(our own universe) but there can be more, we just don’t have evidence to prove that”

There is an estimate that there are about 200 Billion galaxies out there. The Hubble Deep Field showed us the first time that the things that seemed like stars were actually separate galaxies each containing billions of stars in them.

There were many who studied this topic of interest. Henrietta swan Leavitt was the astronomer who discovered the relation between the luminosity and the period of the Cepheid Variable stars. At this point I don’t remember the exact name of the person, but she carefully noted down the readings of the galaxies using a hilltop telescope and plotting it on paper. This was a revolutionary work she plotted about 1500 galaxies on paper using the telescope.

The thing about number of galaxies is that its still increasing and we are yet to confirm the exact number of galaxies in our universe.
