The ultimate pancake powerhouse in the country, IHOP, is always modifying its menu to satisfy the ever-evolving tastes of the American populace. Along with pizza, shakes, burgers, loaded french toast, steaks, and much more, this famous breakfast restaurant has brought a lot more. IHOP has so many fantastic alternatives available that we often overlook the delicious dishes that are no longer available.
Even if it’s only for a short period of time, IHOP should bring back these five defunct foods. I bet you were unaware that IHOP offered these choices at one point, but don’t you wish they were still available so you could try them?
1. Cheesecake-stuffed French Toast
You did indeed read that correctly! A single plate that included French toast and cheesecake. Sounds like bliss on a dessert. For National French Toast Day in November 2017, IHOP introduced a stuffed French toast dish featuring layers of cheesecake filling between buttery Brioche French toast.
Up until January 1, 2018, three delicious varieties of the limited-edition, creative line—OREO Cookies and Cream, Toffee Apple Cheesecake, and Strawberry Cheesecake—were available.

2. The Perfect Waffle Tower
FoodBeast claims that IHOP offered the Ultimate Waffle Stack to Americans in 2018. Despite the high calorie content, IHOP served only the best, as implied by its name.
The Ultimate Waffle Stack was a substantial option that came with six bacon strips, two eggs, white cheddar cheese, and maple syrup on top of waffles that had been infused with cheddar flavor. With an abundance of oozy, gooey cheese and meat, this sandwich truly was the ultimate feast.
3. A splashberry
Was this merely some berry splash? Sort of, anyway. A 2016 IHOP menu described Splashberry as a concoction of quality orange juice, lemon-lime soda, and delicious red strawberries from IHOP.
It seems cool enough for a summer day like this! If you blend it with ice, it may make a fruity frozen drink. Although we understand that certain things won’t last forever, it’s still lovely when they do. Due to COVID, IHOP recently reduced the variety of food it offered, yet the popular restaurant continues to serve the tastiest meals of the day.
4. Sliders with Pancakes
According to INSIDER, IHOP added pancake sliders to their menu in 2018. The sliders from IHOP gained media attention when they were referred to as an “upgraded McDonald’s McGriddle.” Whoa.
You must be disappointed just to read that you were never able to try these. McGriddles have no limits! Although IHOP no longer sells this delicacy, you can still get the individual ingredients and prepare it at home. This is what you ought to purchase:

Three varieties were offered for the individual-sized Pancizzas: Original Buttermilk, Bacon & Cheddar, and Cupcake. These sound like pizza-bagels instead of desserts.

They no longer carry different international varieties of pancakes, which is why their official corporate name is no longer International House of Pancakes, but just IHOP. All they have now is mediocre buttermilk pancakes with different toppings.
We have a really good local pancake place in my town, and there’s a place up in Whitefish, MT whose pancakes are to die for.
Why doesn’t IHOP sell pancakes anymore?
IHOP still sells pancakes, they just aren’t the focus of their menu any longer. Pancakes just aren’t as popular as hamburgers and omelets, which are front and center on their menu. People really dig hamburgers and omelets. I could eat them every day. Pancakes, eh, maybe once every couple of months.
When the put all of those burgers on their menu they started calling themselves IHPOB, International House of Burgers. They only did so in their advertising though, no need to throw down a bunch of cash changing signage.
Why did Denny’s change its name to IHOP?

It’s what happens when some idiot in the marketing department decides they really need to update their brand and comes up with a more “crisp” or “modern” name. My favorite along these lines was when Washington Mutual changed its name to WaMu (waaahhh! moooo!).
Anyway, I think the idea is to shift the emphasis from Pancakes to breakfast, except they already did that when they changed the name from International House of Pancakes to IHOP.
So in addition to the expenses they’ve already incurred on staff time discussing this change (interminable meetings!) and paying somebody to design it, now they’re going to spend a fortune changing signs, menus, letterhead, business cards, websites, ad infinitum, in order to now have a name that looks stupid and sounds like the old name when you have a cold.
How does iHop make their pancakes so fluffy and buttery?
The key to fluffy pancakes, is to not over mix. You don’t want a smooth, constant batter. This means you’ve overworked the gluten in the flour and the pancakes will turn out tough.
If you want the maximum fluff in your pancake, separate the white and yolk. Make the batter as normal with the yolk (avoid over mixing). Whisk the egg white with a little bit of butter. Whisk it into peaks (you can find this in numerous other baking instructions with fluffy pastries). Gently incorporate egg white peaks in with the rest of the batter (you don’t want to lose all the air from the peaks).
It’s not exactly an iHop recipe, but there’s a surprising amount of variation with about 4 ingredients (flour, water, egg, butter).

Next time you go to IHOP, before you dig into the pancakes check the bottom of them. Often times the cook will use his/her spatula to cut the pancake open to check its consistency and ensure it is cooked thoroughly, then flip it right side up onto your plate so you never notice.
P.S. Pancake day at ihop is actual hell for everyone working there, so if you do go, be courteous, leave a small tip for your waiter/waitress on that day as their tip to table ratio drastically changes as a result of teenage kids/cheap people want lots of cheap/free pancakes. Stacking your dishes into a neat pile for the busser/server/dishwasher to come pick up makes everyones lives 10 times easier and it takes about 5 seconds of the customers time. (I always do it when I dine out).
If something went wrong with your order, ask nicely instead of freaking out like some people do, because if you realize that every other table in the restaurant is filled and in the hands of 5–7 people and another 20 more behind the scenes, there is a lot going on and some people insist that the entire restaurant (or world) should revolve around them. There are no IHOP restaurants in Thailand. There are franchised restaurants in India and Pakistan, though that’s pretty far to travel for pancakes, if you’re in Thailand.
IHOP also has locations in the Middle East. Super franchisee Alshaya Group operates them in a number of countries. IHOP has set up shop in Ecuador as well.
Thailand though? Nope, not at this time.

They prepare mixes of buttermilk pancake in batches, put in cold storage (2 days max, although we always finish them in a matter of hours) then dispense them on grill per order,
This is highly needed as there are too many add-ons like banana into a pancake, store cooked ones, and heat per order will cost more regarding space and wastage (cooked food have a shorter shelf life), and quality is always effected with cycles of temperature change.

I even made toast on one in a pinch. The least versatile piece of equipment in this type of restaurant, on the other hand, is the waffle iron — it can only make one thing, one way.
If you’re interested in griddle cooking at home, the easiest, most cost-effective tool is a griddle pan, like the one below. It’s perfect for four pancakes or sandwiches, 9 silver dollar pancakes or blinis, and enough grilled onions or peppers to go with a family dinner.
